India's most common menstrual hygiene product is sanitary napkins which are disposable and can harm the environment due to the huge amount of plastic they contain. Therefore it has become a necessity to introduce alternate solutions such as tampons and menstrual cups. Due to their current demand, there is a huge scope to redesign the packaging and plunger which can help the user perceive the product better and with introducing confidence. This project is featured on Packaging of the World platform!

Problems Faced

The tampons packaging is a standard plain box, cuboidal in shape. ​

It usually has plastic wrapping around it. Users don’t face any major problems with the packaging as such, Storing multiple boxes can take up space.Plastic is used for individual packing of tampons to prevent them from bacteria or dust.​

To dispose of a tampon usually users use newspaper or tissues which may not be available in public washroom spaces which require the user to carry newspaper or tissues as an extra especially while traveling.​​

Plastic plunger for each tampon increases waste production additionally.

USP-ESP
We won’t use plastic. Our “Add-it-on” applicators are reusable, smooth, medical silicone, the tampon cover is biodegradable, comfortable, and compostable paper, the packaging are paper, and is burlap and recycled paper. The tampons are wrapped in a compostable starch film, and a biodegradable polymer adhesive makes them stay in place. Did you know that the average plastic-applicator tampon user goes through 7,300 plastic applicators in their lifetime? That’s a lot of plastic trash! And it ends up in our landfills and waterways – this is not okay with us. Thus, from start to finish , the product is 100% environmental friendly and biodegradable.
Packaging Graphics & Branding
For Rebranding, Grapefruit has been illustrated to represent the vagina. Its red colour is significant to show the period blood.
